Spam Policy
What counts as spam on Bug in Word, and what happens to it.
Last updated: 8 October 2026
An index is only useful if you can trust what is in it. Bug in Word reviews every submission and removes anything that exists to game attention rather than inform.
We treat the following as spam
- Submissions whose main purpose is to place links, promote a product or service, or drive traffic rather than share information.
- Duplicate, spun, scraped or machine-generated text submitted without meaningful original contribution or disclosure.
- Keyword-stuffed titles, misleading summaries, or PDFs whose content does not match their description.
- Hidden links, cloaked redirects, malware, tracking payloads or files with embedded scripts.
- Bulk or automated submissions, and repeated resubmission of rejected material.
- Unsolicited commercial email sent to our editorial addresses.
- Impersonation of researchers, institutions or public bodies, or false claims of affiliation.
What happens
Spam is rejected without review notes. Repeat or abusive senders are blocked from future submissions, and malicious files are reported to the relevant hosting or abuse contacts. Entries later found to breach this policy are removed from the index.
We never send marketing email and we do not buy or rent mailing lists. If you receive a message claiming to be from Bug in Word that asks for money, passwords or personal documents, it is not from us — please forward it to editors@buginword.com.
Reporting spam
If you see an entry that looks like spam, use "Report a correction" on the entry page or email us with the link.
